Central continues to dominate Shell cricket

Central Zone continued to dominate Group A of the Shell Under-15 Interzone cricket series, after it hammered North Zone by 83 runs in the teams third round match at Munroe Road Recreation Ground on Wednesday.

Central got to 150 all out after Nick Ramlal made 42 and then bowled out North for 67, as the inform Ronelstar Perreira grabbed two wickets for 14 runs and Brandon Deonarine three for seven. With the win Central moves to four points and is one win away from the crown if victory can be achieved against East.

Across at Gilbert Park, fast bowlers Liam Mamchan and Shane Rajaram put up a great fight against East but South still lost their encounter by three wickets. Sent in to bat South crumbled from 40 for one to 100 all out. Kovid Bispath topscored with 19 and got good support at the top of the innings from Kendal Poochoon who made 14. However, East bowlers struck back and was able to bowl South out for 100.

During the run chase, East started well before Rajaram grabbed the first two wickets to fall. East in a strong position of 60 for two, when skipper Mamchan took the ball and in a blistering spell bagged four wickets for 14 runs to crippled the oppoition middle order.

However, his efforts proved futile as he completed his spell, a maximum of six which he bowled on the trot. In the end V Bachoo with 27 and K Boodoosingh 13 steered East to victory.

South East finished its group play in the B Division with three victories in as many matches as it overcame Tobago at the National Cricket Centre (NCC) in Couva. Tobago scored 99 all out as Nickyle Jalim 2/16, Ricardo Chase 2/10, Khaleem Mohammed 2/12 and Romario King 2/21 proved too strong. Khaleem Mohammed with an unbeaten 43 and Aaron Goopiechansingh 16 not out, took South East to 100/2 for the 8-wkt win.

At Munroe Rd: Central 150 all out (Nick Ramlal 42, K Kissoondath 31) vs North 67 all out (Brandon Deonarine 3/7, Ronelstar Perriera 2/14) - Central won by 83 runs.


At NCC: Tobago 99 all out (Orlando James 17, Kylon Brathwaite 16, Nickyle Jalim Ricardo Chase 2/16, 2/10, Khaleem Mohammed 2/12, Romario King 2/21) vs South East 100/2 (Khaleem Mohammed 43no, Aaron Goopiechansingh 16no) - South East won by 8 wkts.

At Pierre Road: South West 176 (Calvin Loubon 56, Yasir Khan 36, Vasant Singh 4/29, Amrow Kisto 3/15) vs North East 177/6 (Joseph Fraser 57no, Amrow Kisto 18, Aiden Lackansigh 24, Tevon Hinkson 2/22) - North East won by 4 wkts.

At NCC: South West 178 all out (Rashad Cox 52no, Joel Agard 46, Orlando James 3/23, Jayden Kent 2/31) vs Tobago 179/5 (Orlando James 51no, Quinton Brooks 26) - Tobago won by 5 wkts.
