Any attempt to halt scrutiny of the allegations against Chief Justice Ivor Archie will take this country back 80 years, Senior Counsel Martin Daly has said.

Something ‘Different’ is always a challenge
Polly’s Gold, placed in five of six outings, races over seven furlongs for the first time today at ‘good to soft’ Chepstow where Richard Hughes’ charge takes on eleven rivals in a 2-y-o Novice Stakes.
If consistency was a guarantee for (eventual) success Polly’s Gold would be a short-priced favourite but, conversely, punters eventually get fed up with ‘hitting the posts’ and so this somewhat luckless Havana Gold filly could well be offered at backable odds.
Vexed punters will argue that Hughes is resorting to a different distance, that Polly’s Gold has too many chances and failed to convert, etc, but judged on her TH marks, especially the last one at Goodwood, we have no doubt Shane Kelly will steer her into the winners’ enclosure this time.
Another with solid time-figure claims is twice-raced, Charles Hills-trained, Lifeboat, one of ten ‘decs’ for the opening Novice Median Auction Stakes over seven furlongs of ‘good’ ground Epsom, which also stages a challenging seven-race programme.
Lifeboat is strongly-fancied to recoup last-time-out losses under stable apprentice, Callum Shepherd, who indeed is proving stable; his riding has improved considerably since rejoining Faringdon and he rode a blinder on our nap, Expecting, at Wolves, Saturday night.
Confidence means everything, Shepherd will be encouraged by his efforts and hard work, a young man worth following because, in stature, he’s definitely grown.
Callum is tall-ish, Hopefully he doesn’t grow too much!
Doncaster St Leger Festival enters its second stage with the threat of further rain(s) which could turn soft into heavy; low weights will undoubtedly have an advantage and that’s why we’re plumping for She’s Different in the six-runner Nursery Handicap over an extended six furlongs.
Significantly She’s Different achieved a career-best last time when successful for the first time in a strongly-run Hamilton nursery under Andrew Mullen.
She’s thrown in and they team up again!
Town Moor doesn’t seem able to withstand adverse weather conditions nowadays and has been ruined by constant over-watering, disgraceful state of affairs.
Chepstow, 10.10 Polly’s Gold; Epsom, 10.30 Lifeboat, 10.50 She’s Different
