Sankat to chair Higher Education

Professor Clement Sankat

Professor Clement Sankat, pro vice chancellor and principal of the St Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI) is one of the new chairpersons appointed by Cabinet for agencies of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education (MSTTE). He was appointed as chairman of the National Commission for Higher Education. 

Chairpersons also have been announced for the College of Science, Technology and the Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT); the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT); the Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI); the Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA); the Metal Industries Company Ltd. (MIC); the National Training Agency (NTA); the National Institute of Higher Education, Research Science and Technology (NIHERST) and the Youth Training and Employment Partnership Programme (YTEPP).

The chairpersons and their affiliations are as follows:
-National Commission for Higher Education: Professor Clement Sankat, pro vice chancellor and principal of the St Augustine Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI);

-Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago: Dr Michael R Dowlat, principal Naparima College, San Fernando;

-Caribbean Industrial Research Institute (CARIRI): Hayden Ferreira, project director, Caribbean Cement Limited (Jamaica);

-College of Science, Technology and the Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT): Dr Allan McKenzie, head of Department of English and Communication, UWI School of Business Limited;

-Institute of Marine Affairs (IMA): Professor Indar Ramnarine, professor of Fisheries and Aquaculture, University of the West Indies;

-Metal Industries Company Ltd: David Lee, entrepreneur;

-National Institute of Higher Education, Research Science and Technology (NIHERST); Jwala Ramberran
economic strategist, Involve Financial Ltd, Trinidad and Tobago;

-National Training Agency (NTA): Dhanraj Goolcharan project manager, Petrotrin; and,

-Youth Training and Employment Partnership Programme (YTEPP): Chandra Gupta Supersad, careers and placement officer, University of the West Indies..
