Bynoe made the disclosure while giving a report from the Security, OSHA Compliance and Disaster Management Committee of the Port-of-Spain City Corporation at the corporation’s statutory meeting on Thursday. He added: “We submitted an evacuation plan to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management (ODPM) in November. “We’re working to come up with a plan to give to the mayor and to the public next week.” Bynoe said those involved in the plan included the police, Ministries of Works and Local Government, the ODPM, Fire Services and Defence Force. “We discussed the possibility of various natural disasters that could cause havoc in the city,” Bynoe said.

On another note, the councillor said 16 new police officers would assist in the drive to keep the city clean. He said murders, bottle-pelting, urinating on walls and defecating occurred in the St James area around 2.30 am after excessive drinking bouts by members of the public. “A 15-year-old boy was apprehended with a firearm and during roadblocks automatic fire is being aimed at the police.” he said. The St James Police would be coming out in full force every Friday and Saturday night throughout the Christmas period into Carnival, Bynoe said.
