Last weekend, my family and I witnessed indescribable love. Woodford Square has been a place of many revolutions, but last Saturday the only fight was one of hope.
Every creed and race truly found an equal place. We all sat together, danced together and fellowshipped together. We were all simply Trini.
The children played safely and happily, not a car was broken into, not a person was disrespected. The atmosphere of Port-of-Spain was filled with love and togetherness.
Every single detail of the day was perfect. Everyone ate and kept the place clean. Every single person helped pack up after. The square was left impeccable. No fighting or rushing, nothing of the sort. Just peace and perfection.
To the City Corporation, thank you for making the process smooth and enjoyable. Keep up the splendid work at maintaining the square.
To the police officers on duty, thank you, thank you, thank you. You were so accommodating and helpful. Awesome job.
To COTT and EMA, thank you.
To the 6th Sea Scouts and their leader Mr Clifford Bailey, your team worked tirelessly to get the venue set up. We appreciate you so much. Thank you.
To Tisha Jack, who offered to assist in the planning free of charge, even though this is how she earns an income. She served like we were paying her the big bucks. Thank you.
To Calvin Bartholomew, we contracted him to do the guest plaque and when he heard our budget didn’t allow for gazebo décor, he offered to do it for free. The wedding arch was out of this world. You are awesome sauce.
To Nicola: Nicola, Nicola, Nicola. This lady here, words cannot begin to describe. I would have been admitted to St Ann’s Hospital if it were not for her. She rallied the troops and just pulled it all together. To you and the other AMAZING ladies of the home-schooling group. We are honoured to be doing life with you.
To Chris and Avonelle, from the marriage advice to the invite, to the music, to the everything else in between. Avonelle, you showed up at a time when I doubted so much. You made me feel secure in my weirdness.
To Pastor Hansraj and his wife, we will forever be grateful for the wisdom imparted to us.
To Pastor Oliver and the Westside Community, thank you for your support.
To Richard B, Sasha and Rayna. You three worked like part of the bridal party and we can’t let it go unnoticed.
To our bridal party, thank you.
To Maxine Stafford who blessed us with fabulous nails, she treated us like royalty even though we didn’t pay a cent.
To Bridget and Salon 101. Thank you for my hair, make-up and good vibes on the wedding day. Your laughs and smiles mailhelped set the tone for the day.
Capturing the day was important to us and Haile Eyesus went above and beyond for nothing but tasty food, some hugs and lots of love.
To Shrien, you fed me all week, kept me sane and then you got aprons made at the final hour. I love you, my friend.
To Kyle Noel, our ice-cream guy, you are a true example of sacrificial giving. May God bless your business as you so selflessly bless others.
Thank you to Ezekiel Persaud for ensuring our men were well outfitted. Having your guys show up to lend support was the perfect finishing touch.
One Worship Band, simply amazing. Everyone spoke about our worship band. We are certain many souls were fed that day. Thank you.
To our friends and family who bought into our crazy idea. You all rock!!!
To our guests, you all came, brought the best dishes and served with an open heart. The day would not have been the success it was without each and every one of you.
To our social media community, your love and support goes a long way. Never underestimate our love for you.
To the Community of Port-of-Spain, Thank You. You embraced us and opened your city to us. You allowed us to serve you. Thank you.
We wish we could name each and every person but my column would overflow. Thank you to T&T for demonstrating first hand, that despite what the critics say, we are still a warm people.
And finally, to God Almighty, all praise and glory to You. We pray that You continue to use us, as we continue to submit to Your divine authority, and we pray that You restore Trinidad and Tobago.
